Hey all! It's been a while!
Unfortunately, this summer was not all I hoped it would be regarding conventions and cosplay, but a lot of exciting things have been happening in my life. I got a new job, realized a project that could become my career to utilize all that I love doing, bought a car, and now am in the middle of a big move to a new house!! I really wasn't excited about moving (living with my parents is not the best of situations), especially when I heard that we were moving to a new state. Luckily, it's only 5 minutes over the border so I can keep my job and not use -too- much gas to see my boyfriend/friends, go into the city, etc. The best part of this house is that I get a whole room for all my projects and crafting, which as a photographer/fashionista/crafter/artist/cosplayer...that space alone makes life SO much easier and more productive!! I have SOOOO many projects I'm itching to work on (a couple are quite big undertakings!!) and I can't wait to share them with you guys! For the next 1-2 months I'll probably be pretty quiet, but once I'm settled into my new place I'll probably just become a creation factory haha.

COSPLAY IN THE FUTURE:
I love being a cosplayer. It has opened so many doors for me and gave me the chance to explore and feel comfortable with who I am. Cosplay brought me to fashion and really developed my love for photography. I've met so many incredible and talented people that without cosplay, I would have never met...including 3 of my best friends! That said...unfortunately I have found that the community evolved into something that often promotes negativity, which is not the community that I remember and treasure. A lot of that negativity, at least for me, springs up at cons. Over the past 3-4 years, conventions have been losing a lot of their wonderment and inclusiveness that first captured me at Acen 2006. I keep going back to cons yearning for that feeling, but the spark is gone. I'm still hoping that the flame might be rekindled, but I'm pretty sure (especially with the direction life may be leading me in soon!) this will be my last year attending conventions. I will probably hit up Acen and/or C2E2 for a day or two (they are local), even perhaps another convention every once and a while if I want to.
I WILL STILL BE COSPLAYING though.
My want to cosplay has lessened, but not enough to make me want to quit. There's so many costumes and photoshoots I still need to do before I consider quitting, but instead of conventions...I will be doing on location shoots, studio shoots, maybe local meet ups, and possibly even videos! As a fan, this is far more productive, budget friendly, and successful than conventions for me. I seek to recreate the look and feel of a series/character and bring it to life. It's what I wanted to achieve from the beginning<3
The cons I hope to attend this year as a last big bang are KATSUCON, C2E2, ACEN, FANIME, and COLOSSALCON.
Hopefully I will see you all at one of those, and if not...nothing is ever concrete as life is always changing. But that's the fun<333
